Build a Health Clinic to Change Lives

This health clinic will provide the much needed free medical and dental care as well as free medications. Currently the nearest hospital is 4 hours away in Tegucigalpa. Through the construction of this free clinic we will provide services not only to El Rodeito but to all the nearby communities.

The nearest local public hospital is in Tegucigalpa about 4 hours away or the other smaller hospital is in Choluteca about 3 hours

away. Additionally, the public hospital in Tegucigalpa is unable to attend to patients as needed. They continuously have an overflow of patients lining up outside the hospital waiting to be seen. People in need of care have to wait for days to be treated at the emergency room.

Building a local health clinic will help treat patients in the southern region of Honduras. El Rodeito and all the nearby communities will be able to receive free care and medications.

The free local clinic will be able to treat on average 400 patients per week. Through our partnerships with other organizations, we will be able to bring specialists to this area, we hope to provide education and resources to the community to prevent treatable illnesses.

Cape Cares

Cape Cares

April 2024 Medical Brigade

Medical and dental brigade in Los Encinitos from April 7th-14th and in El Rodeito the Medical Brigade is April 9th and April 10th.

November 2023 Medical and Dental Brigade

Medical and dental brigade in los Encinitos from Nov 11th-16th and in El Rodeito on Nov 16th.

April 2023

Mayor Potencial has partnered with CapeCares to bring a medical and dental brigade to El Rodeito. This serves El Rodeito and the nearby communities. The medical and dental brigade took place in the elementary school classrooms, with two doctors treating patients and providing medications for three months, as well as dentist doing extractions.

Mayor Potencial partners with CapeCares on a regular basis to provide medical and dental care in El Rodeito and Los Encinitos.

The goal of the medical brigade is to help the elderly, people with disabilities, new moms that would struggle making the trip to Los Encinitos where they will be hosting another brigade for the whole week. This allowed for 68 patients to be seen for medical treatment and 120 teeth extractions.

Through our partnership with CapeCares we are providing a wheelchair to be used by a member of the community and hopefully as he recuperates and no longer needs it, the community leaders will lend it to someone else in need.

For those of us who wear glasses, we know that going about our day without glasses is nearly impossible. Understanding that glasses are part of a good health program is incredibly important to give quality of life to a lot of people. That’s why we’re so happy to share that alongside Cape Cares, we were able to help kids who needed glasses from El Rodeito in Honduras. This volunteer work took place on July 11th. Thank you to the Eye Clinic Zoe for your service. Please visit our Facebook page for photos!

Hurricane Relief for Families in Honduras

In Honduras COVID-19 has hit very hard, with many people losing their jobs, food and medications becoming scarce, and prices

skyrocketing. Hospitals are overrun and the COVID death toll continues to rise. On November 2020, Hurricanes Eta and Iota hit Honduras and devastated the country. These storms will continue to have devastating impacts on the country.

There are not enough shelters to assist the more than 400,00 people affected, and cases of COVID are increasing as people are forced into close quarters. Initially, funds raised will help first responders supply food, clothing, and shelter to survivors. Funds will then be used to rebuild homes. Reconstruction efforts will work towards structurally secure and stormproof homes.
